Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Preliminary Exam result for the 2025 Civil Services (IAS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) recruitment. A total of 1129 vacancies are available across prestigious Group A and Group B posts including IAS, IPS, IFS, and other allied services. The preliminary exam was conducted on 25 May 2025. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in the relevant disciplines were eligible to apply. UPSC Civil Services & Forest Service Prelims 2025 – Key Details

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2025) Candidates must be between 21 and 32 years of age.
Lower Limit: 21 Years
Upper Limit: 32 Years
Relaxation: Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD and other categories as per UPSC norms.

UPSC Civil Services Main Examination – Detailed Syllabus

Structure: The Main examination includes 9 descriptive papers — 2 qualifying and 7 merit-based.

Qualifying Papers (Each 300 Marks)

Paper A: Indian Language (As per Eighth Schedule)

This paper tests the candidate's understanding of an Indian language chosen from the list in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. It is mandatory except for candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

This section evaluates a candidate's awareness of current events and basic understanding of India and the world. It includes:
