The Gauhati High Court is recruiting 367 Junior Administrative Assistants (JAA) for various districts. Candidates must go through a multi-stage selection process involving written tests, computer skill evaluation, and a viva-voce. Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted in three major stages:

  • Stage 1: Common Written Test (OMR-based objective)
  • Stage 2: Computer Skill Test
  • Stage 3: Viva-Voce (Interview)

Final selection will be based on the combined performance across all three stages. Marks obtained in the Assamese Language test will not be counted in the final merit.

  • Sentence Correction
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Essay and Precis Writing (Descriptive)

2. General Knowledge & Computer

  • Indian Constitution, History, and Geography
  • Important National & International Events
  • Books and Authors
  • Basic Computer Knowledge – MS Office, Email, Internet

3. General Aptitude

  • Number Series, Simplification
  • Profit & Loss, Time & Work
  • Data Interpretation
  • Percentage, Ratio and Proportion
  • Logical Reasoning

4. Assamese Language (Qualifying)

  • Basic Grammar
  • Common Vocabulary
  • Reading Comprehension

5. Computer Skill Test

  • Typing Test: Speed and accuracy in word processing using software
  • Practical Tasks: Use of MS Word and Excel

Interview

The final interview will assess the candidate’s communication skills, presence of mind, general awareness, and suitability for the administrative role. A well-rounded personality and basic legal awareness will be helpful.

Important Notes

  • Candidates 5 times the number of district vacancies will be shortlisted for Stage 2.
  • Top 3 times the number of posts will be shortlisted for Viva based on combined Stage 1 & 2 marks.
  • In case of a tie in final scores, higher marks in Stage 1 & 2 combined will be given preference. If still tied, age seniority will apply.
  • The High Court may decide cut-off marks for various stages if required.
