The apprenticeship positions are offered under trade and technician categories at IOCL’s Digboi Refinery. Engagement is temporary and strictly governed by apprenticeship training rules. Selection is merit-based, considering marks obtained in the prescribed qualification. Candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time are given preference. The program provides structured industrial exposure in refinery operations, maintenance, and instrumentation systems. Selected apprentices must meet medical fitness standards before final engagement and comply with all apprenticeship guidelines during the training tenure.

Post and Code Eligibility Criteria Vacancies and Stipend
Trade Apprentice – Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) Code 101 B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Industrial Chemistry with minimum 50 percent marks, relaxed to 45 percent for reserved categories. No prior apprenticeship in the same discipline; a one-year gap required if trained earlier in another field. 32 Posts. Stipend is paid as per provisions of the Apprentices Act and IOCL guidelines during the training period.
Trade Apprentice – Boiler (Mechanical) Code 103 B.Sc with relevant science subjects meeting minimum percentage criteria. Same apprenticeship experience conditions apply as other trade apprentice posts. 2 Posts. Stipend provided according to statutory apprenticeship norms applicable to refinery trade apprentices.
Technician Apprentice – Chemical Code 104 Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, or Refinery and Petrochemical Engineering with minimum 50 percent marks, relaxed to 45 percent for SC, ST, and PwBD categories. 9 Posts. Monthly stipend paid as per Apprenticeship Act provisions for technician apprentices.
Technician Apprentice – Instrumentation Code 107 Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Instrumentation and Electronics, Instrumentation and Control, or Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering with required minimum marks. 5 Posts. Stipend governed by statutory rules and corporate apprenticeship training policies.
Age Criteria Candidates must be between 18 and 24 years as on 31 January 2026. Age relaxation applies: SC and ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD 10 years, as per Government apprenticeship rules. Age must be supported by valid documentary proof during verification.
Selection Method Merit list prepared based on percentage of marks in qualifying examination. In case of equal marks, higher age and then matriculation marks are considered. Document verification and medical fitness assessment follow merit shortlisting. Engagement confirmed only after successful document verification and medical examination clearance.
Training Nature Apprenticeship training under refinery operations and maintenance departments. Training is temporary and does not guarantee employment after completion. Apprentices receive structured practical exposure, safety training, and technical skill development during the engagement period.
