Selection Procedure
Applications will be shortlisted based on academic performance and eligibility. Shortlisted candidates will receive call letters for SSB interviews conducted at selection centres in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Jalandhar. The SSB process spans five days and includes psychological tests, group tasks, and interviews. Those clearing Stage-1 will proceed to Stage-2. Medical fitness is mandatory post-SSB recommendation.
Training and Commission Details
Selected candidates will undergo 49 weeks of training at Officers Training Academy. During this period, cadets are not permitted to marry or live with family. Successful completion results in the award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies. Upon completion, cadets are granted Short Service Commission in the rank of Lieutenant with one-year ante-date seniority for technical entries.
Service Tenure and Conditions
Initially, SSC officers are commissioned for 10 years. They may opt for release after 5 years or seek extension for another 4 years, depending on performance and approval from Army HQ. Those deemed suitable may also be considered for Permanent Commission at the 10-year mark. Officers undergoing specialized training must complete their full tenure or repay the training costs.
Cost of Training
The cost of training is covered by the Government. However, cadets withdrawing from the course for reasons other than medical or beyond their control must reimburse the training cost, which currently stands at ₹16,260 per week (subject to revision).
